Dried Mushrooms have been an important, economical, and very popular cooking ingredient throughout Europe and the Orient for centuries. Recently, they have received a great deal more attention in the United States. A smaller amount is needed in recipes since the flavor is much more concentrated than fresh varieties. They can be stored for long periods without spoiling. Forest Blend is an earthy, yet savory combination of Shiitake, Porcini, Oyster, Bolete, Wood Ear and Sliced Shiitake.
Basic Preparations: Reconstitute the mushrooms prior to use. To reconstitute, place desired amount into a bowl covered with hot tap water and let them soak for 20-30 minutes. General rule, 1 oz. dry reconstitutes to 3-4 oz. E-mail a friend about this item. |
